Steve McKenna
Steve McKenna has over a decade of professional experience in politics. He served as Governor Maura Healey’s Field Director during her 2022 gubernatorial campaign. In that role, Steve directed the campaign’s efforts for the caucuses, and Democratic State Convention. He also led the organizing work for the Mass Dems’ coordinated campaign. In 2020, Steve served in a senior position for one of the groups that executed the DNC’s paid canvassing program for President Joe Biden in Nevada. He went on to work for the Democratic Party of Georgia on the runoff elections that elected Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock, and Senator Jon Ossoff that same year. Steve has also worked with Congressman Gabe Amo, Congressman Joe Kennedy III, Congressman Bill Keating, Treasurer Steve Grossman, and many other state, local, and issue campaigns. A former representative in Lexington’s Town Meeting, Steve is an expert at navigating local governments in Massachusetts.
Steve competed in NCAA Division I track & field for the University of Rhode Island, and has coached the cross country / track & field team at Lexington High School since 2017. Along with his duties as coach, he organized a 501(c)(3) non-profit booster club that financially supports the nearly 300 student-athletes in the program beyond the resources of the school department.
Over the last three years, Steve directed and executed the fundraising strategy for the non-profit, which centered around community events, and raised over $140,000 for the organization in the last three years. Steve holds a BA cum laude in History with a minor in Acting, and an MA in Political Science from URI. He lives in a Boston suburb.
